The goal of the Cincinnati Reds internship program is to provide a relevant work experience to a diverse group of college students and recent graduates, giving them the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom in an employment environment.  Interns work in a professional atmosphere under the supervision of seasoned professionals.  Objectives and practices will vary with each department of the organization.

Internship candidates must be a full-time student or recent graduate of a college, university, or institution of higher learning, pursuing a degree in Sports Administration or an area specific to a department of the organization. 

As members of the Reds extended family, interns may receive up to two (2) tickets per homestand, subject to availability, any applicable taxes, and all Cincinnati Reds policies and procedures.  Some meals may be provided to interns working in game-day roles.  All interns are responsible for local housing and parking.

Goodyear Ballpark and Recreational Complex is the spring training and player development home of the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. We’re looking for a stellar crew of interns to assist in the preparation and execution of the 2018 spring training season. Corporate Partnerships Internship
The Corporate Partnerships intern will assist in the management, activation and servicing of corporate partnerships. In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, this intern will:

  • Assist with generating sponsorship leads, contracts and fulfilling sponsorship elements
  • Assist with generating leads for group tickets
  • Assist with planning and executing sponsor-related events (mixer, sponsor appreciation, etc.)

Requirements:

  • 3.0 GPA or higher working toward a degree in Sports Marketing, Sports Management or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative and resourceful problem-solver
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

The Marketing & Promotions intern will assist with a variety of tasks related to the branding and promotion of Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds spring training. In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, this intern will:

  • Coordinate marketing outreach efforts including mascot appearances, event booths, radio station, school visits, etc.
  • Coordinate pregame ceremonies and game day presentation (National Anthem performances, presentation of colors, etc.)
  • Assist with execution and fulfillment of reading program and related activities
  • Develop content and leads for email marketing
  • Assist with social media engagement plans and strategy 

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree in sports management/marketing, communications or related field with an internship requirement
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Creative and resourceful
  • Valid driver’s license

Event Presentation & Production Intern - Kansas City Royals (Kansas City, MO)

Job Summary: Position is responsible for assisting the Sr. Director of Event Presentation & Production and the Manager of Event Presentation with administrative duties. In addition, this position will assist the Event Presentation & Production (EPP) Department with events (planning, set-up/breakdown, etc.), participate in the brainstorming sessions, and assist in the development and implementation of promotional elements on game days as well as other duties as assigned by the Sr. Director and the Manager of Event Presentation.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Manage in-stadium host(s)

Angels Baseball - 2018 Internships - Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (Anaheim, CA)

Angels Baseball is looking for resourceful and eager candidates to fill Internships in the following departments for the duration of the internship year starting as early as January of 2018.  Actual start dates vary based on the department.

Interns are paid hourly in the program and will work up to 40 regular business hours per week for up to a year. Applicants must be able to work flexible and some unusual hours during the team’s season including nights and weekends. Listed below are brief descriptions for the various departments:

Sponsorship Services
The Sponsorship Services Intern will assist the Corporate Sales and Sponsorship Services Department in ensuring adherence to sponsor contract provisions, including monitoring merchandise inventory, execution of promotions and planning/execution of special events, which includes game day responsibilities; act as a sponsor contact responding and fulfilling any request made by the sponsor; maintain records for all sponsor activities, tasks and accomplishments; assist Corporate Account Executives with assembling client presentations; and assist with general operation of the Sponsorship Services Department. Intermediate working knowledge of PowerPoint and previous experience with Photoshop is a plus.

Marketing
The Marketing Intern will be responsible for assisting with and executing promotional campaigns and giveaways designed to increase brand awareness and generate revenue. The eligible candidate will be required to proofread collateral and copy, participate in brainstorming sessions, and adhere to all brand guidelines in order to effectively promote and communicate marketing objectives throughout our organization and in-market. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; Managing projects related to marketing collateral and stadium signage; Assist with Kids Club Membership registration and fulfillment; Assist with creating copy for radio and TV; Track website and digital application updates; Prepare and assist with the execution of various marketing events and initiatives including but not limited to pre and in-game amenities, themed weekends, post-game movies, Family Sundays, Fan Appreciation Day and more; Create comprehensive recaps for events and giveaways; Support Marketing staff with administrative duties

Community Relations 
The Community Relations Intern will work closely with the Angels Chairman and the Senior Director of Community Relations in organizing programs and charitable fundraising events such as the 5K & Fun Run; assist with community outreach programs, kids Holiday Party at ESPN Zone and Angels Baseball Foundation fundraisers; sort, and process fan mail; handle message requests for the scoreboard; and handle various administrative tasks.  The Community Relations Intern will also coordinate monthly donations, handle merchandise requests, and coordinate the Angels Brick Program as well as coordinate grant requests for Angels Baseball Foundation.

Media Relations 
Primary responsibilities for the Media Relations Intern will include maintaining and distributing daily newspaper and magazine clips, daily gathering, preparation and dissemination of pre-game information including rosters, lineups, game notes and releases. The intern will: assist with press box game management; participate in writing and production of publications and organizing photographs; work with media staff in notifying media members of breaking news and handling daily media written correspondence and fan/media phone inquiries; handle extensive statistical research projects for media and coaching staffs; and work with Publications Manager and Broadcasting Manager on occasion.

Special Events
The Special Events Intern will work directly with the Director of Special Events to provide seamless customer service to internal and external special event clients; create and oversee event memos and event setup; create event diagrams in accordance with Angel Stadium space and rental requirements; execute settlements once the event is completed; conduct site visits for potential and contracted clients; execute pregame special events inside Angel Stadium; execute non game-day events at Angel Stadium; maintain client files; assist in client email and phone correspondence; and assist in online marketing related to special events.

All Intern Candidates should meet these Qualifications:

  • Proficient in complete Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and problem solve
  • Strong teamwork aptitude required

Provide support and event coordination for the New Era Pinstripe Bowl which will take place at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. 

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the setup and execution of events across the city and confirm that the events are properly dismantled

  • Complete gift bags and ensure that they are shipped and delivered to the appropriate locations

YBA - Intern, Digital Marketing & Events - Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy (Washington, DC)

Summary: 

The Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy is a year-round educational and athletic facility with the mission to use baseball and softball as vehicles to foster positive character development, academic achievement, and improved health among at-risk Washington, D.C., youth. Founded in 2013, the Academy is poised for exciting growth and utilization of its new $17 million facility in Ft. Dupont Park in Southeast, D.C. 

Reporting to the Events & Marketing Associate, the Digital Marketing & Events intern will assist with developing, organizing, and implementing all digital marketing and event planning pertaining to fundraising, revenue generation, and brand awareness for the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy (Academy). This position will have direct responsibilities with event planning, marketing operational budget, Academy related game operations, monthly newsletter, website and social media. 

The Digital Marketing and Events Intern is expected to work flexibly, spending most of his/her time at the Academy facility, and occasionally coordinating with front office staff at Nationals Park. The intern will regularly interface with Academy Board Members, major donors, and VIPs, such as Nationals players, MLB or government officials. The preferred candidate will have marketing/event planning experience within the sports and/or youth development industry.

Duration:  August through December

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Events 

  • Assist in development and execution of event operations plan for the Academy 
  • Implement and help facilitate Mushball Tournament, Academy Day, Scherzer Showdown, Donor Events, Spring Training Trip, & other events assigned 
  • Responsible for post-event follow up to include surveys, thank you notes, reports and final event audits 
  • Maintain detailed task lists to ensure efficient project management plans 
  • Attend events as required to represent the Academy 
  • Maintain the appropriate relationships with vendors, local businesses, government organizations, sports organizations, venues, and events 
  • Help procure equipment rentals, transportation amenities, and service providers

Marketing 

  • Collaborate on and create graphic designs, layout elements, and GIFs for social media utilizing Adobe Creative Suite products and other programs 
  • Assist with game day marketing and promotions operations geared towards Academy 
  • Assist in the coordination of direct mail and social media communications with the donor base, including solicitations, renewals, and monthly newsletters 
  • Routinely check and update Academy website and social media pages 
  • Manage promo items and memorabilia used for cultivation and stewardship of donor base 
  • Assist with the creation of all marketing material (e.g. brochures, presentations, etc.) 
  • Should possess experience in all social media platforms 
  • Push consistent, relevant traffic from Academy social media accounts 
  • Identifies emerging industry trends in graphic design/social media 
  • Works with various internal departments to manage creative consistency of all internal and external athletics communications 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements: 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student of an accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of 1 semester or have recently graduated from an accredited college or university, or equivalent military experience.
  • Available for the entire term of the Internship.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions 

  • Demonstrated effective communication skills

  • Knowledge and experience working across sports marketing, promotions and advertising, for a nonprofit or sports organization. 
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management software a plus

  • Commitment to achieving the articulated objectives of the Academy for scholar-athletes, staff, and the community at-large 
  • Emotional commitment to working with youth and families in a low-income, urban community.
