Game Day Presentation and Administration

The Boston Red Sox are looking for two individuals who will be responsible for running the Game Day Presentations and Administration roles for Spring Training.  These positions are instrumental and designed to help the individuals learn the development, coordination and implementation of all aspects of Spring Training at JetBlue Park.

Examples of Responsibilities and Expectations:

 GAME DAY PRESENTATION

·         Coordination and scheduling of all:

o    National Anthem Singers

o    Ceremonial First Pitch

o    Honorary Bat Boys/Girls

·         Creation of  day of game scripts

·         Oversee the execution of pregame ceremonies and game day presentation

·         Coordination and scheduling of all JetBlue Community Corner participants

·         Execution of all Charitable Giving efforts and Week of Service

·         Coordination and scheduling of all Fenway South Drive entertainment

·         Execution of all in game promotions and giveaways

·         Coordination and planning of our Spring Training Open House and Staff Orientation

·         Assist in set up and break down of all events held at JetBlue Park including: Spring Training games, Open House, Fenway South Farmer’s Market, concerts, car shows, and many other events.

ADMINISTRATION

·         Scheduling of all Green Team Volunteers

·         Transportation to and from airports/hotels for Red Sox personnel. 

·         Assist with all Red Sox personnel in setting up their houses for their Spring Training stay

·         Assist with all Rental car needs

·         Assisting with all UPS, FedEx, and USPS deliveries

Requirements:

·         Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

·         Ability to multi-task and manage large groups of people

·         Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

·         Strong organizational skills

·         Baseball knowledge is a must

·         College Credit available, if needed for graduation, but not a requirement.

The Boston Red Sox are looking for an individual who will be responsible for assisting in the management, activation and servicing of the Club’s corporate partnerships and premium sales clients.  This internship is designed to provide an intern with experience in a corporate sales and service environment specifically relating to the sports community. This position plays a key role in growing sales revenues, managing high profile accounts and assuring a quality experience for our clients at JetBlue Park. 

Examples of Responsibilities and Expectations:

CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS

·         Coordination and execution of sponsor elements

·         Assist corporate sales team in prospecting new leads for corporate partnerships

·         Scheduling of all ballpark exhibiting days and sponsor giveaways

·         Give pre-game tours to Florida and Boston based sponsors

·         Assist with the game day activation of all sponsor giveaways/promotions

Spring Training Internship 

Ballpark Operations

The Boston Red Sox are looking for two (2) individuals to help assist with the management of the Ballpark Operations department. This internship is demanding and difficult, but an essential job to prepare JetBlue Park for the Spring Training season. You will have the chance to learn how to run numerous non baseball events, prepare the practice fields for the thousands of fans that come to see the Red Sox prepare for their season, and experience what it takes to set up JetBlue Park and Fenway South Drive for Opening Day!

Examples of Responsibilities and Expectations:

·         Assist with the organization and planning of all rental needs for Spring Training.

·         Assist with ballpark walkthroughs, recording and following up on repairs and maintenance.

·         Assist in set up and break down of all events held at JetBlue Park including: Spring Training games, Open House, Fenway South Farmer’s Market, concerts, car shows, and many other events.

·         Transportation to and from airports/hotels for Red Sox personnel. 

·         Manage and maintain the hydrotherapy room.

·         Execution and breakdown of all Spring Training related areas inside and outside the ballpark.

·         Assist with the planning and execution of the end of Spring Training Employee BBQ

·         Serve as a liaison between the game day staff and management

·         Assist with the inventory of received shipments and promotional products.

·         Coordinate and lead all building organization activities to ensure Club’s high standards for order and cleanliness are maintained

Job Title: P&G Cincinnati MLB Youth Academy Intern

Reports To: Youth Academy Director, RCF                      

FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt 

Term: October 1, 2017 – May 1, 2018 (flexible)

Commitment: 25 hours per week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for handling key day to day operations for the P&G Cincinnati MLB Youth Academy (YA) site and programs including but not limited to, program set up and execution, assistance with participant recruitment, site management, and participant tracking systems.
  • Responsible for recording, tracking and communicating YA program attendance accordingly.
  • Oversees baseball/softball equipment donation program through the Reds Community Fund.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of, and assist in the execution of site/facility operations processes.
  • Assist in the recruiting of YA program participants, coaches/instructors and volunteers.
  • Assist in maintaining YA web information, social media and baseball/softball video programs.
  • Administrative duties will include managing the participant application process, reception desk processes, placing equipment/apparel orders, inventory organization & management, etc.
  • Assist with Reds Community Fund outreach and fundraising events as needed which includes but is not limited to Opening Day Charity Block Party (TBD), Redsfest (December 1 & 2), Reds Caravan Activities (January), etc.

Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience in at least one business setting and one sports setting. (preferred)
  • Have interest in sports business and have earned/are currently pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in a related area of study.

Requirements:

  • Must have an available schedule that will allow the ability to work approximately 25 hours a week including nights, weekends & holidays during the period of October 1 - May 1, 2018.
  • Must have an outgoing, friendly personality and excellent communication skill, strong initiative, and high level of energy.
  • Must have good time management skills and present self in a professional manner with a passion for sports.
  • Must have the ability to handle and coordinate large groups of people in a secure and sensitive area.
  • Should have some experience working with kids, exhibiting an ability to be patient and understanding. (preferred)
  • Should have prior baseball/softball experience with a strong understanding of the fundamentals. (preferred)

  • Coordinate pregame ceremonies and game day presentation (National Anthem performances, presentation of colors, etc.)
  • Assist with execution and fulfillment of reading program and related activities
  • Develop content and leads for email marketing
  • Assist with social media engagement plans and strategy 

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree in sports management/marketing, communications or related field with an internship requirement

YBA - Intern, Digital Marketing & Events - Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy (Washington, DC)

Summary: 

The Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy is a year-round educational and athletic facility with the mission to use baseball and softball as vehicles to foster positive character development, academic achievement, and improved health among at-risk Washington, D.C., youth. Founded in 2013, the Academy is poised for exciting growth and utilization of its new $17 million facility in Ft. Dupont Park in Southeast, D.C. 

Reporting to the Events & Marketing Associate, the Digital Marketing & Events intern will assist with developing, organizing, and implementing all digital marketing and event planning pertaining to fundraising, revenue generation, and brand awareness for the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy (Academy). This position will have direct responsibilities with event planning, marketing operational budget, Academy related game operations, monthly newsletter, website and social media. 

The Digital Marketing and Events Intern is expected to work flexibly, spending most of his/her time at the Academy facility, and occasionally coordinating with front office staff at Nationals Park. The intern will regularly interface with Academy Board Members, major donors, and VIPs, such as Nationals players, MLB or government officials. The preferred candidate will have marketing/event planning experience within the sports and/or youth development industry.

Duration:  August through December

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Events 

  • Assist in development and execution of event operations plan for the Academy 
  • Implement and help facilitate Mushball Tournament, Academy Day, Scherzer Showdown, Donor Events, Spring Training Trip, & other events assigned 
  • Responsible for post-event follow up to include surveys, thank you notes, reports and final event audits 
  • Maintain detailed task lists to ensure efficient project management plans 
  • Attend events as required to represent the Academy 
  • Maintain the appropriate relationships with vendors, local businesses, government organizations, sports organizations, venues, and events 
  • Help procure equipment rentals, transportation amenities, and service providers

Marketing 

  • Collaborate on and create graphic designs, layout elements, and GIFs for social media utilizing Adobe Creative Suite products and other programs 
  • Assist with game day marketing and promotions operations geared towards Academy 
  • Assist in the coordination of direct mail and social media communications with the donor base, including solicitations, renewals, and monthly newsletters 
  • Routinely check and update Academy website and social media pages 
  • Manage promo items and memorabilia used for cultivation and stewardship of donor base 
  • Assist with the creation of all marketing material (e.g. brochures, presentations, etc.) 
  • Should possess experience in all social media platforms 
  • Push consistent, relevant traffic from Academy social media accounts 
  • Identifies emerging industry trends in graphic design/social media 
  • Works with various internal departments to manage creative consistency of all internal and external athletics communications 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements: 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student of an accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of 1 semester or have recently graduated from an accredited college or university, or equivalent military experience.
  • Available for the entire term of the Internship.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel required – experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, Aldus Freehand and Quark XPress software programs. – Website Design experience is a plus 
  • Knowledge and experience working across sports marketing, promotions and advertising, for a nonprofit or sports organization. 
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management software a plus
  • A team player, used to working collaboratively in a sometimes hectic and fast-paced, but fun environment. 
  • Commitment to achieving the articulated objectives of the Academy for scholar-athletes, staff, and the community at-large 
  • Emotional commitment to working with youth and families in a low-income, urban community.
  • Experience coaching, playing and/or enjoying youth baseball / softball a plus. 

Physical/Environmental Requirements 

  • Office: Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
