The Houston Astros Internships are intended for individuals with a strong desire to gain real-world work experience, as well as a desire to work hard and give their best. Summary: 

The Groundskeeping intern will learn the ins and outs of field operations, turf management and the overall maintenance of the field and ballpark grounds ensuring the surface is game and camera-ready. This may include infield and home plate maintenance, maintaining infield moisture, fertilizer applications, aerification, topdressing and many other related duties. This intern will also assist with the maintenance of all equipment as well as help set up pre-game activities such as batting practice and other non-baseball needs. The selected intern should have interest in learning about or familiarization with field maintenance equipment, and must be a hard-working team player. This internship is ideal for Turf Management majors who intend to run their own field someday.

Preferred candidates are those currently enrolled or recently graduated from a 2-to-4 year turfgrass program from an accredited university. This individual should have strong communication skills, a high attention to detail and a tremendous desire to learn. Individuals should be very motivated and hard working. Baseball field experience is preferred but NOT required. Must be able to participate in game-time functions, including holidays, special events and must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

As a part of the Business Strategy & Analytics Team, the intern will be responsible for coordinating market research efforts, collecting data, performing data analysis, and developing output of the results. The Intern will contribute to high visibility projects for the organization, which will have a direct impact on the top and bottom line.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle the logistics for online surveys
  • Use online software to program market research surveys
  • Manage market research survey responses and compile data for analysis
  • Collect and compile data for analysis from various sources

2017 MLAM Internship


Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) organization in its 35th year of promoting the game of baseball, raising money for local charities and serving the unique needs of former players. Major League Alumni Marketing (MLAM) is a for-profit subsidiary of the MLBPAA striving to create and maintain lasting memories of baseball’s heritage.

Major League Alumni Marketing (MLAM) is seeking an organized, self-motivated, team oriented individual to assist all facets of the organization, including but not limited to the following: day-to-day operations, inventory management, memorabilia marketing and sales, ecommerce, and data entry. This internship will provide a well-rounded experience for students interested in sports marketing and business management. Interns must receive college credit; as this is an unpaid position. Interns are required to secure their own housing and transportation if relocating from out of the area. This position is a full-time, 40-hours a week internship and may require up to 15 hours a week to be spent at the warehouse in Monument, CO.

End Date: December 2017

Description: Salt River Fields is looking for a creative and driven Social Media intern to assist in running various social media platforms for our special events.  Under the direction of the Event Marketing Coordinator, the intern will assist and observe with various projects assigned by the Special Events department. 

General Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 

  • Researching and writing social media content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.
  • Assisting with creating, administering, evaluating, and creating new ideas for the social media plan designed to promote special events
  • Assisting with a variety of administrative tasks including event planning and execution, special projects and other duties to be assigned
  • Assisting with onsite event management, set-up, activation and breakdown as it relates to social media activation
  • Observing and participating in event logistics and execution
  • Gaining practical knowledge of event marketing and lead up activation of sponsors

Qualifications:

YBA - Intern, Facilities - Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy (Washington, DC)

Summary:

The Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy is a non-profit organization with the mission of using baseball and softball as vehicles to foster positive character development, academic achievement and improved health among Washington, D.C. youth living in underserved communities.  The Academy operates on 9 acres, equipped with 3 baseball/softball diamonds, a community garden, and an indoor facility containing a concession stand, classrooms, a full teaching kitchen, office space, and an indoor training room. The Academy is looking for a hard-working and team-oriented individual to join in the management and maintenance of these facilities for the fall, spring, and/or summer seasons.  The Facilities Management intern will be responsible for helping with upkeep and overall maintenance of the grounds, fields, as well as the indoor facilities as needed.  Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, mound maintenance, synthetic turf maintenance, irrigation, tarping, field set-up and building maintenance. 

Duration of internship: June to August

Tasks and Duties:

  • Assist with the management of fields, including mound and synthetic turf maintenance, tarping, and field set-up responsibilities.
  • Assist with the management and maintenance of the grounds and building.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student of an accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of 1 semester or have graduated from an accredited college or university within the last 6 months.

  • Maintenance: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an intern encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Intern will be subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme heat, extreme cold, noise, hazards and atmospheric conditions (fumes, odor, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation). While performing the duties of this position, the intern is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances, and climb up/down stairs. The intern is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit and must lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
