Fall 2015 Internship - Ticket Sales & Services - New York Mets (Flushing, NY)

­­­Department: Ticket Sales & Services

Location: Citi Field; Flushing, NY

Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Summary:

This internship position is designed for applicants who are interested in pursuing a career in ticket sales. The internship will span from July of 2015 through December of 2015. The employee will support the day-to-day operations of the Season Ticket Sales, Group Ticket Sales, Season Ticket Account Services and Premium Sales departments. 

Responsibilities:

  • The employee will be responsible for conducting research to find prospective clientele located in and around the Greater Metropolitan NYC area.
  • The employee will be responsible for working alongside full-time employees to coordinate and manage events at Citi Field.
  • The employee will be responsible for learning the ins and outs of coordinating a large-scale group event at Citi Field.
  • New hire will be responsible for carrying out special ticket sales related projects as assigned by the management staff.
  • Interns are responsible for collecting best practices from other organizations and reporting to management team.
  • The employee will propose at the end of the internship a report on their one creative idea that could help the ticket sales department grow.
  • The employee will be responsible for working his or her schedule hours.

Requirements:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Related coursework and/or experience is a plus.
  • Some knowledge of Major League Baseball rules, history and players.
  • Ability to work well with others, from interns and front office staff to athletes, fans, customers and corporate clients. 
  • Professional conduct, image and demeanor in an office setting.
  • Candidates must have satisfactory computer skills, including some proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word).
  • Consistent, punctual and regular attendance. 
  • Available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays. During the baseball season this may include nights and weekends when team plays home games. 
  • Must have own transportation to and from Citi Field.
  • Recent college graduate is preferred.

Duties: To be able to perform all duties pertaining to landscape maintenance at a high level in consistence with the standards of Major League Baseball and to include up to all the following:
• Mowing
• Edging
• Weed Eating
• The ability to use small as well as large mowing equipment
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• To be a team player willing to work weekends and special projects as assigned
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
Experience: At least one year of landscape experience preferably working on large properties. Irrigation, chemical and fertilizer application experience a plus.

Intern, Promotions & Events (June 2015-January 2016) - Washington Nationals Baseball Club, LLC (Washington, DC)

Summary:

The intern position is an integral part of the Promotions & Special Events department, as the individual to fill this role will be exposed to and relied upon to assist with a variety of marketing initiatives to include: Jr. Nationals Kids Club, Promotional Giveaways, MLB All-Star Balloting, Fan Appreciation, On-Field Photo Day and numerous theme nights.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

§  Assist in all promotional activities related to home games

§  Assist with organization and maintenance of promotional inventory for the Marketing dept

§  Assisting in the distribution of promotional items on game days

§  Assisting with the youth marketing initiatives including Jr. Nationals Kids Club and Kids Run the Bases.  Must be present for Sunday home games.

§  Serve as a liaison to fans at the Jr. Nationals Kids Club table on Sunday home games

§  Assist in the procurement of tickets, credentials and parking for game-day requests

§  Assist in the Major League Baseball All-Star balloting process

§  Attending and assisting club sponsored and off-site marketing events

§  Assist with planning and execution of NatsFest

§  Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager, Promotions & Special Events

Requirements:

·         Currently enrolled as a under graduate or graduate student of an accredited College or University and have completed 1 semester, or a recent graduate within the last 6 months.

·         Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

·         Be available for the entire length of the Internship Program.

·         Successfully complete a Background Investigation.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

·         Office: Working conditions are normal for an office environment.  Work will require attendance at all Nationals home games, and may require physical tasks outdoors.
