Primary Duties:

Intern Requirements:

Primary Duties:
This position will have a key role in maintaining the archive system as well by cataloging current game photos, past year game photos, and sorting and scanning 35mm negatives from our historical archive. This position will print pre-game 8x10 on professional inkjet printers as needed. This position may also assist on any and all photo shoots, shooting corporate signage around the ballpark, shooting off-site community events, and shooting pre-game activities on the field and around the ballpark.

 Qualifications:
• Must be enrolled in or a graduate of a college level photography program, or have equivalent experience.
• Must be proficient with professional level digital SLR photography equipment. (Pro-level Canon gear will be available for    use by the intern)
• Must have experience working with 35mm and Medium Format film negatives, using a loupe to discern good versus poor images.
• Must be proficient on a MAC computer system using the following software: Photoshop CS4-CS5, Photo Mechanic and      Photoshelter.
• Must be able to print on high-quality inkjet photographs using large format Epson printers.
• Must be able to work with other employees on tight deadlines with short notice on many projects.
• Must be available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

Fall 2014 Internship - Media Relations - New York Mets (Flushing, NY)

Summary:

The Media Relations internship will be a full-time opportunity to work alongside the rest of the Media Relations team in the New York Mets' front office. The intern will provide support to the full-time members of the Media Relations Department. The intern will also assist with the daily duties of the Department, which may include, but are not limited to the following responsibilities;

 

Responsibilities:

  • Daily Clips: compiling and sending out a daily “clips” packet to all Mets front office employees and media members that cover the team. The packet includes all of that day’s daily newspaper articles about the Mets, Yankees and baseball in general, as well as any non-sports articles that mention the Mets, Citi Field and anything else that references the organization.
  • Game Notes: will help compile parts of the daily games notes that are used by all media.
  • Video Clips:  using a video service and their program, search video clips from news programs the day/night before and compile a video email of all Mets related stories.
  • Mets Magazine: assist with writing and editing of our final game day publication.
  • Media Support: on game days will be responsible for setting up our press areas for home games.  Will issue daily credentials and staff the press gate. Must make sure the press box is set up properly: phone lines are working, phones are out; internet is working; game notes, stats, line-ups, bio pages, etc. are copied and available. After the game, will help distribute post-game notes, which are a recap of that day’s game. Will also assist the writers with any questions, research needs, or problems they may have.
  • Credentialing: for all home games, will be responsible for creating and distributing daily media credentials.
  • Parking: will help compile and issue passes for the daily media parking list on game days.
  • Community Outreach: assist our Community Outreach guaranteeing media coverage for all their events.
  • Media Guide: help research and input information into our pre-season media guide for the upcoming season.  Will also fact check and proofread certain sections of the book.
  • Postseason Guide: responsible for inputting information and proofreading our Year in Review publication. 
  • Off-Season Media/Charity Events: assist in the planning of off-season fall/winter (pre-Christmas) charity events. Will also assist in pitching different media off-season stories.
  • Office Support: will also assist with the day-to-day functions of the department: phone coverage, filing, copying, etc.

Intern, Human Resources - Washington Nationals Baseball Club (Washington, DC)

Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Intern of Human Resources assists the HR Department with Recruiting, Compliance, Benefits, Performance Management, and Compensation related activities as needed.

Duration of Internship: November, 2014 to May, 2015

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with Seasonal Employee recruitment.
  • Assists with projects such as updating handbook, checking data integrity, etc.
  • Assists with Spring Training paperwork and benefit enrollment
  • Maintains personnel and benefit files and other HR records in compliance with regulatory requirements as well as the Nationals Document Retention Policy.
  • Obtains I-9 documentation and assists with yearly audit to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Complete employment verifications.
  • Coordinate HR related activities (i.e. Open Enrollment, Suite Night, Employee Softball Game, etc.) that will drive employee satisfaction.
  • Assist with employee performance review and merit increase processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a undergraduate or graduate level Human Resources or related program at an accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of 1 semester or have graduated from a Human Resources or related program at accredited college or university within the last 6 months.
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Previous HR experience required.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Intern, Guest Experience - Washington Nationals Baseball Club, LLC (Washington, DC)

Summary:

The Washington Nationals are currently seeking a Guest Experience Intern for the remainder of the 2014 season. The intern's primary responsibilities will be assisting in helping both with Guest Experience as well as working with Levy Restaurants on various projects. They are needed to help ensure that various tasks are completed during the season within a timely manner. The internship program will provide the students the opportunity to gain valuable experience within a professional  baseball organization.

Duration of Internship: September - December

Tasks and Duties:

  • Assist with Guest Experience Wardrobe, ensuring that uniform inventories are maintained.
  • Assist with our Guest Experience Lost and Found Program.
  • Assist the Executive Director of Guest Experience with day to day events.
  • Assist in pre-game and/or post game check lists making sure that all partner companies are ready for upcoming games.
  • Assist with the Team Service Rewards and Recognition Program.
  • Work to maintain an inventory of food service items.
  • General clerical office duties, filing and data entry
  • Help greet and direct guests to areas in the ballpark upon their arrival
  • Develop a working knowledge of Nationals Ballpark
  • Other duties as assigned.

Student Eligibility

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Currently enrolled as an undergrad or graduate student of an accredited college or university and have completed 1 semester or be a recent graduate (within no more the 6 months).
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Successfully complete a Background Investigation.
  • Be available for the entire length of the internship (September-December).

  • Lift objects weighing up to 40 lbs. may be required
