Job Title:Development and Fundraising Intern

Reports To:Marketing and Development Director and Marketing and Development Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct donor and prospective donor research, including identification, evaluation and data management of prospect records
  • Design or identify prospect tracking, management and rating systems, as well as maintain a donor database, log donations, manage donor acknowledgement and donor appreciation
  • Assist with communication and relationship management with vendors, sponsors, staff and donors
  • Support Hall of Fame staff with associated logistics with special events/projects, campaigns, exhibits and initiatives related to fundraising and development as needed
  • Provide clerical support related to fundraising and development

Qualifications:

  • Interns should have prior work experience in at least one business setting and/or one sports setting
  • Interns should be interested in going into sports business and should have or are pursuing an undergrad/graduate degree in a related field of study

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, and be comfortable communicating with all levels of staff within organization
  • Must have ability to complete a variety of tasks and projects in a timely and well-organized manner
  • Must possess strong organizational skills
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are preferred)

Schedule/Work Environment:

  • Must have a flexible schedule and a willingness to commit 25-29 hours per week
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; however, under special circumstances, employee may have “game-day” responsibilities where the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
  • Hours may include nights, weekends and holidays

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute day-to-day operations of the Reds Community Fund Split the Pot fundraising program; which includes, but is not limited to, game day event set-up, cash reconciliation, inventory and end of night closing and reporting duties
  • Serve as the point of contact for all Reds Community Fund Split the Pot volunteer groups which includes training volunteers on a nightly basis
  • Responsible for set-up and tear down of all Reds Community Fund Split the Pot related materials at each home game
  • Assist with daily oversight and direction of Reds Community Fund game day staff in addition to program volunteers
  • Provide support for all Reds Community Fund fundraising events during the 2017 season; which includes, but is not limited to, Reds Community Fund Charity Block Party (April 4), Redlegs Run (May 14), Family Catch (June 12), Reds Community Fund Telethon (TBD) and A Night of Their Own: Baseball 101 (July 21). All dates subject to change
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, event registration, development of collateral pieces, event mailings, event set-up/clean-up, etc.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all event participants/sponsors along with the need to be familiar with each event and its operations 

 Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience in at least one business setting and one sports setting is preferred
  • Interest in sports business and have earned/are currently pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in a related area of study

Requirements:

  • Must have an available schedule that will allow the ability to work up to 30-40 hours a week including nights, weekends, holidays and special events during the period of April 1 - October 1, 2017
  • Must present self in a professional manner to interact with fans of all ages, sponsors, game day guests, and on occasion Reds players & coaches
  • Must have the ability to handle and coordinate large groups of people in a secure and sensitive area

  • Required to work a minimum of 75% of all Reds home games (81) throughout the 2017 season (including but not limited to nights, weekends, holidays and potentially playoff activities).
  • Responsible for set-up and tear down of all RCF Split the Pot related materials at the beginning and conclusion of each home game
  • Additional duties may also include but are not limited to, daily set up, cash handling & reconciliation, inventory and end of night closing and reporting duties

 Qualifications:

  • Being that the position is primarily a sales based the candidate must be highly energetic, enthusiastic and competitive.
  • Prior work experience in the area of sales (preferably in the sporting industry) is a plus
  • Have interest in sports business and have earned/are currently pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in a related area of study

Requirements:

  • Must have an available schedule that will allow the ability to work up to  29 hours per homestand including nights, weekends, holidays during the period of April 1 - October 1, 2017
  • Direct selling experience is a plus
  • Must present self in a professional manner to interact with fans of all ages, sponsors, and game day guests
  • Must be an energetic self-starter with an outgoing personality and be customer-service driven

Accounting/Payroll Intern (2017 Season) - Indians Sportservice at Progressive Field (Cleveland, OH)

Position Summary
Manage and establish accounting responsibilities as delegated including but not limited to sales reporting, inventory tracking and cash handling in accordance with the Company’s GuestPath Universal Service Standards and applicable Operational Standards.

Essential Functions:
• Reconciles cashroom counts of fun money and loaded tickets.
• Prepares, verifies and processes invoices.
• Assists with game day inventory tracking and analysis.
• Processes journal vouchers and checks for payments.
• Bills and credits accounts involved with the accounts payable system.
• Prepares and mails bills or statements, and prepares lists of outstanding bills payable.
• Compiles and distributes daily sales reports, under the direction of Accounting Manager.
• Files and maintains clerical records and reports pertinent information to accounting and bookkeeping or technical operations.
• Assist with processing weekly payroll including maintenance of timekeeping system.
• Record, check and balance time sheets and process wage changes and adjustments for weekly payroll.
• Updates reports and spreadsheets tracking specific trends in things such as spoilage, items sales, etc.
• Tracks the payouts to the non-profit organizations within in the Food & Beverage department.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Non-essential Functions:
• Assists with preparation of month-end reports, and analysis.
• May audit and proof accounting or other reports for clerical accuracy and conformance to departmental, county, and state procedures.
• Offer game day assistance to supporting departments.
• Handle general reception/office responsibilities.
• Available to work extra hours on short notice.

Education & Experience:
• College level coursework or practical Accounting experience preferred.

Job Summary:

The Social Media & Event Intern will assist with day-to-day Digital & Social Media operations and Marketing Department special events & stadium entertainment.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop engaging content for club's social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Pinterest through photography, copy writing and graphic design.
  • Maintain organizational social media calendar.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree study in a related program.

  • Practical graphic design experience.
  • Background in photography preferred.
  • Baseball knowledge and/or knowledge of the Kansas City Royals organization.

Internship Summary:

The Venue Services department oversees all aspects of food & beverage, merchandise, memorabilia, promotions, on-site tenants, and inventory control for the New York Mets. From determining the price of a hot dog to designing t-shirts, Venue Services is involved in many areas within the organization that have a direct impact on the experience of all guests at Citi Field. This internship will provide insight and inclusion with the majority of the department’s functions with a large emphasis on analytics.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Corporate Sales and Marketing Intern will assist with the radio production and radio network affiliates.  They will also assist with the fulfillment of certain elements in the corporate partners’ contracts. 

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Assist with 190+ live radio productions for the Cardinals Radio Network.
  • Organize all announcer and game production materials.
  • Assist with affiliate affidavits and traffic the radio commercials to the affiliates for the promotions and trade ticket offers.
  • Assist Corporate Sales and Marketing Account Executive and Coordinators as needed.
  • Execute sponsorship elements/promotions, such as “Explore St. Louis Where are you From” booth.
  • Assist in hosting field visit, ceremonies, and first pitches on a regular basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Current enrollment in an accredited program at a College or University required, at least Junior year.
  • Experience in marketing, sports industry, radio and/or customer service.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.

We are seeking interns with a passion for winning through mathematics, data analysis, and computation. The internship positions will be with the Baseball Research and Development team in the Baseball Operations department. Start and end dates are flexible, and we will consider applicants who are available for only the summer of 2017. Please note that these positions have the potential to lead to a full-time employment offer, but such an offer is not guaranteed.



Responsibilities:

  • Statistical modeling and quantitative analysis of a variety of data sources, for the purpose of player evaluation, strategic decision-making, decision analysis, etc.
  • Collecting public and private data for additional analysis.
  • Ad hoc queries and quantitative research in support of general Baseball Operations tasks.
  • Various game-day duties, as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, computer science and/or engineering.
  • Some experience with computer programming.
  • Familiarity with the online baseball research community.

In addition to working closely with the broader Research and Development team, we desire candidates who will challenge the status quo and explore new research opportunities. Previous interns have developed ideas that have changed the way the organization approaches important challenges.

*Internship (Youth Baseball Camps) - Tampa Bay Rays (St. Petersburg, FL)

The Tampa Bay Rays are seeking a motivated, outgoing, and team-oriented individual to assist in the planning, logistics, and day-to-day operations of the Rays Summer Youth Baseball Camps. This individual will gain valuable experience planning and executing camp events for a Major League Baseball team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Planning and logistics:

o   Accept registrations, waivers, and payments

o   Stay in constant communication with parents on camp details

o   Keep records of camp participant information

o   Prepare t-shirts, paperwork, nametags, and other items for distribution to campers

o   Conduct camp evaluations and collect evaluation data
 

Day-to-day camp duties:

o   Set up and break down of the registration area and equipment

o   Administer camp sign in and sign out

o   Assist the camp coaches in camp lessons
 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

•        Positive and friendly personality

•        Experience working with children ages 6-13

•        Ability to work 40+ hours per week including some weekends and holidays

•        Computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

TrackMan Analytics/Operations Internship - TrackMan Baseball (Stamford, CT)

Description:
Join TrackMan’s team as an Analytics/Operations Intern for TrackMan Baseball, a US-based sports technology firm. You will take on a critical role in a small, fast-moving entrepreneurial company that is breaking new ground in sports.

In this position, your responsibility will be to review TrackMan data from a significant number of Major, Minor, NCAA, and international stadiums, as well as numerous amateur tournaments. You will also have the opportunity to perform statistical analysis as directed.

We are hiring on a rolling basis, and the internship wraps up at the conclusion of the Major League baseball season, with the opportunity to stay on for further projects. Candidates with only summer availability will also be considered for a shorter-term internship.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to break into the baseball community and get experience with data available exclusively to professional baseball teams.  Detailed training is provided, along with the opportunity to work closely with members of the TrackMan staff and interface with our partner teams.  Weekend and evening availability is important.

2017 Internship, Venue Services - Washington Nationals (Washington, DC)

Summary:

The Venue Service Intern will be given the unique opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable insight into the day-to-day workings of a Ballpark Operations Department.  They will be an integral game day point-of-contact for a variety of inter-departmental and extra-departmental requests and support the entire department in the successful implementation and management of game day operations and events.  The Venue Services Intern will primarily support game day operations, ballpark operations operating systems, food & beverage, and parking & transportation management needs within the department and will receive a diverse experience while also contributing greatly to the department’s effectiveness in running a world-class facility. 

Duration: Internship begins in March and ends in September with an expected commitment of 30 hours per week.

Summary:

Contribute to Washington Nationals Baseball Operations for the 2017 season as one of our highly valued interns. We’re looking for dynamic individuals who can contribute immediately to our front office in Washington, DC by specializing in work related to Research and Development. This internship is for the 2017 season and typically spans from Opening Day to November 1st. Decisions regarding the position will not be made until the Fall and Winter of 2016.

The Research & Development internship includes an emphasis on computer programming and data analysis. The intern’s main responsibility will be to assist the R&D department with input, cleaning, and processing of baseball data into proprietary databases. There will also be assignments that require statistical analysis on large volumes of baseball-related data. 2017 Internship, Ticket Operations - Washington Nationals (Washington, DC)

Summary:

The Intern will provide continuous coverage of service and support in all four box office locations and for preparation to begin and close each area on a daily basis.  Interns should assist the Ticket Operations Department in providing a wider more intensive service net for our external and internal customers.

The Intern will work closely with the Ticket Operations staff in the selling, printing, and mailing of group tickets, season tickets, and single game ticket requests.  The Intern will assist in the processing of internal CRM departmental requests and will be instrumental in the fulfillment of Nationals season ticket holder initiatives such as the Nationals Ticket Exchange Program.  Candidates should possess superior customer service skills and must work well in a fast paced environment. 

The Intern will be provided the opportunity to experience the daily and gameday functions of a MLB ticket operations department. Candidates must have prior customer service experience as well as be experienced with internet and web based browsers/searches, MS Office applications such as Excel, Word & Powerpoint, and have superior writing/reading comprehension.  Prior experience in the handling and reconciliation of cash is required.

  • Assist in the processing, printing and distribution of season, group and individual game tickets and cards

  • Process ticket exchanges in accordance with the Nationals Season Ticket Holder Exchange policy

  • Support in supervision of seasonal ticket seller staff

  • Assist in the generation of reports based on promotions, sales, inventory, etc.
