IT Game Day Systems Support Intern - Cincinnati Reds (Cincinnati, OH)

Job Title: Game Day Systems Support
Reports To: Vice President of Information Technology
FLSA: Hourly, Non exempt
Job Purpose: This position provides PC hardware & software support to the entire organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary contact for troubleshooting PC hardware, printers and software malfunctions and connectivity
  • Perform hardware and software installations and/or configuration changes for PC/LAN equipment
  • Identify areas for and assist in the development and presentation of user training
  • Assist in the evaluation of needs and recommendation of hardware and software solutions for all departments
  • Interact with vendor technical staff to resolve complex problems and get additional assistance when required
  • Document incoming problem reports, problem diagnosis, escalation and closure of all incidents
  • Share in Game day and Arena functions
  • Trouble shoot printer, copier and scanners
  • All other duties as assigned

Experience, Education and Licensure

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Windows, Office, Mac OS, Networking, TCP/IP, Basic Hardware, Basic wiring, printer, laptop, and desktop troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of imaging computers and loading and troubleshooting software conflicts
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Able to communicate effectively with management and staff.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment however employee may have “game-day” responsibilities where the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • Overtime hours may be required
  • Weekend work may sometimes be required
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds from the floor to desktop height

IT Internship (2014 Season) - Indians Sportservice/Cleveland Indians (Cleveland, OH)

Position Summary
Assists with POS, computer and general equipment technical problems through troubleshooting and problems solving techniques in accordance with the Company’s GuestPath Universal Service Standards and applicable Operational Standards.

Essential Functions:
• Maintain an understanding of POS systems and how to resolve technical and mechanical issues.
• Respond to technical support related emails and phone calls, escalating more complex issues to IT Manager
• Troubleshoot errors on location quickly and independently.
• Install, configure, and support: desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and miscellaneous devices
• Assist in the management of asset inventory
• Assist in developing and maintaining solutions in knowledge based systems
• All other duties as assigned.

Non-essential Functions:
• Prepare reports on daily activities and problems.
• File maintenance including manuals, logs, requests, etc.

Education & Experience:
• College level coursework or practical Information Technology experience preferred.
• Experience installing and troubleshooting desktop and laptop hardware
• Previous experience supporting call center environments is a plus
• Avid user of technology.

• Computer skills including Word and Excel.
• Proven ability to prioritize work responsibilities.

Environmental Working Conditions:
• May be exposed to variable temperatures, including extreme hot and cold, depending on season.
• Noise level may be moderate to high during busy times.

Light Manual Labor including carrying boxes, pushing hand trucks, and setting up directional signage

Other Duties as Assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

Completed or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of hospitality experience preferred.

Able to work through the end of all Metropolitan Hospitality events.

Professional demeanor and excellent verbal and written communication
skills.

Creative, detailed-oriented “people person” capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously.

Team-oriented, extremely motivated and able to follow instructions and work independently.

Strong working knowledge of MS Office software, with an emphasis on Excel.

Specific requirements/responsibilities:

Intern will assist with game day activities including pre-game and in-game entertainment on non-game days, there will also be project work which includes assisting with television and radio spots, social media, website trafficking, events and office support (phones, faxing, mail). When the team is on the road and during the off-season, a 9:30 A.M.-5:30 P.M. work day is expected. When the team is home, the hours may fluctuate depending on the department’s needs.

This internship program is designed for applicants who are interested in pursuing a career in professional sports and are eligible to work full-time or part-time hours and receive school credit. The internship runs from August through December of 2014.

-Ability to work well with others, from fellow interns and front office staff to athletes, fans, customers and corporate clients.

The Ticket Office Interns will support the day-to-day operations of the Season Ticket Sales, Group Ticket Sales, Season Ticket Account Services and Ticket Operations departments.  Interns will receive practical training and experience in these areas while gaining an understanding of how the ticket office of a Major League Baseball team operates. Interns will assist with general office duties during regular business hours as well as day of game activities including, but not limited to, pre-game entertainment, ballpark tours, special event coordination and sales efforts.
