Job Title: Promotional Events Offseason Staff (Seasonal)
Reports To: Promotional Events Manager
FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Term: November  21,2014 – April 2015
Commitment: 30-40 hours/week, Monday through Friday. Hours may also include nights, weekends and holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with coordination and preparation for offseason events including Redsfest and Reds Caravan
  • Assist with offseason office tasks which will include, but are not limited to: helping with all components of Redsfest, answering phone calls and emails, data entry, assisting with the Reds Heads Kids Club and Reds Rookies Baby Club along with additional miscellaneous office duties as needed
  • Assist with preparing materials for the 2015 season
  • Additional opportunities and special assignments will be offered

Qualifications:

  • Staff members should have prior work experience in at least one business setting and one sports setting.
  • Staff members should be interested in going into sports business and should have or are pursuing an undergrad/graduate degree in a related area of study.

Requirements:

  • Must have an open availability. Please note that there will be specific dates that this person will be expected to work in the months of November, December, January and March.
  • Must present self in a professional manner to interact with fans of all ages, sponsors, game day guests and on occasion, players
  • Must have the ability to handle and coordinate large groups of people in a secure and sensitive area
  • Must be an energetic self-starter with an outgoing personality and be customer-service driven
  • Must have a general knowledge of baseball
  • Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Work Environment:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment however employee may have “game-day” responsibilities where the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • Hours may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Fall 2014 Internship - Metropolitan Hospitality - New York Mets (Flushing, NY)

Summary:

Provides event and administrative support to Event Manager - Metropolitan Hospitality, on various types of events including, corporate and social functions, trade shows, seminars, or any other type of special events. The internship is a paid position, and will span from October through December of this year. The intern should expect to work on a full-time schedule (35-40 hours/week).


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in executing all non-game day events.
  • General office duties: Draft letters, filing, mailings, faxing, copying, organize binders. Ability to, if asked: Answer phones, make travel arrangements, maintain calendar, etc.
  • Type and organize event documents (Event notes, post event notes, contracts, daily updates, floor plans and maps, etc.)
  • Create checklists for all events and fulfill checklist items.
  • Help oversee department access, parking passes, and guest directions.
  • Maintain and update client/partner mailing and email lists.
  • Assist with research and possible development of events at Citi Field.
  • Create agendas and notes for weekly and monthly meetings.
  • Light manual labor including carrying boxes, pushing hand trucks, and setting up directional signage.
  • Assist with all functions of metropolitan hospitality.

Requirements:

  • Completed or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of hospitality experience preferred.
  • Able to work through the end of all Metropolitan Hospitality events.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative, detailed-oriented “people person” capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Team-oriented, extremely motivated and able to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office software, with an emphasis on Excel and Word.

Intern, New Era Pinstripe Bowl - New York Yankees (Bronx, NY)

Description

Provide support and event coordination for the New Era Pinstripe Bowl which will take place at Yankee Stadium on December 27, 2014. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete gift bags and ensure that they are shipped and delivered to the appropriate locations

  • Assist with the setup and execution of events across the city and confirm that the events are properly dismantled

  • Welcome hotel guests and assist them with any questions or specific requests

  • Assist with coordinating team transportation

  • Support game day functions including escorting important guests to the appropriate locations and assisting with hospitality spaces

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Prior experience in coordinating events and activities

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve
  • Flexible work schedule and ability work in an outdoor stadium environment.

     

    This is a temporary position that will start in early December.  Selected interns will be required to work on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

SUMMARY

The Baseball Operations Department of the Pittsburgh Pirates is seeking enthusiastic individuals with a high degree of ambition and professionalism to fill an exciting position within the Pirates organization.  Due to the value and responsibility of this position, the ideal candidate will be mature, responsible, and knowledgeable.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

- Charting (logging pitch type, location, and event for each pitched play) approximately 2 recorded games per day. The charting will be performed using a video scouting computer program.

- Completing baseball research reports on varies topics and putting together statistical spread sheets.

- Copying and distributing scouting reports, data reports, and statistical information to players and coaching staff. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

The Pirates are looking for interns with prior baseball experience which may consist of:

*Working within a baseball front office on any level.

*Playing baseball on the collegiate or professional level.

*Coaching baseball on a high school or higher level.

In addition we are looking for applicants with:

-Knowledge of BATS software

-A strong attention to detail

-An ability to work flexible hours during the length of the season

-Willing to relocate

Interns must commit to the length of the baseball season to qualify for this position.

Intern, Human Resources - Washington Nationals Baseball Club (Washington, DC)

Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Intern of Human Resources assists the HR Department with Recruiting, Compliance, Benefits, Performance Management, and Compensation related activities as needed.

Duration of Internship: November, 2014 to May, 2015

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with Seasonal Employee recruitment.
  • Assists with projects such as updating handbook, checking data integrity, etc.
  • Assists with Spring Training paperwork and benefit enrollment
  • Maintains personnel and benefit files and other HR records in compliance with regulatory requirements as well as the Nationals Document Retention Policy.
  • Obtains I-9 documentation and assists with yearly audit to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Complete employment verifications.
  • Coordinate HR related activities (i.e. Open Enrollment, Suite Night, Employee Softball Game, etc.) that will drive employee satisfaction.
  • Assist with employee performance review and merit increase processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a undergraduate or graduate level Human Resources or related program at an accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of 1 semester or have graduated from a Human Resources or related program at accredited college or university within the last 6 months.
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Previous HR experience required.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions

  • Strong organizational, time management and project management skills with the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
