Job Purpose:

Position Overview

BIS is looking for highly motivated individuals with a desire to work in the baseball industry. Video Scouts will have a chance to make an immediate impression on the company. Each Video Scout will be collecting data that is directly used by BIS clients (including major league teams) for advance scouting and evaluation purposes. Not only will the Video Scouts become more familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of hundreds of amateur and professional players, but they will also learn the ins and outs of the baseball statistics industry.

Former Video Scouts have risen rapidly through Major League front offices after getting their start watching two to three games per day at BIS. In the words of one former Video Scout and current Vice President of Baseball Operations, “My summer at BIS was the best baseball experience of my life.” Major League teams frequently come to us for recommendations when they need to fill a position within their organization, and our top video scouts each year routinely land team internships and/or full-time jobs.

Time Frame:

  • BIS offers two unique start dates for this position. The first begins February 5th, 2018. Compensation:

  • A starting base hourly rate of $7.75 and/or college course credit will be offered to each Video Scout

Marketing

Media Relations 
Primary responsibilities for the Media Relations Intern will include maintaining and distributing daily newspaper and magazine clips, daily gathering, preparation and dissemination of pre-game information including rosters, lineups, game notes and releases. The intern will: assist with press box game management; participate in writing and production of publications and organizing photographs; work with media staff in notifying media members of breaking news and handling daily media written correspondence and fan/media phone inquiries; handle extensive statistical research projects for media and coaching staffs; and work with Publications Manager and Broadcasting Manager on occasion.

Special Events
The Special Events Intern will work directly with the Director of Special Events to provide seamless customer service to internal and external special event clients; create and oversee event memos and event setup; create event diagrams in accordance with Angel Stadium space and rental requirements; execute settlements once the event is completed; conduct site visits for potential and contracted clients; execute pregame special events inside Angel Stadium; execute non game-day events at Angel Stadium; maintain client files; assist in client email and phone correspondence; and assist in online marketing related to special events.

  • Manage and oversee all press box workers and equipment during the Spring Training and the Florida State League seasons

The Event Services Intern will assist the Event Services Coordinator in all aspects of the department during both the Spring Training and the Florida State League seasons.  The department covers all aspects of the day-to-day operations, game-day operations staffing and all non-professional baseball events taking place at Roger Dean Stadium.

Spring Training Duties:

  • Perform a detailed daily walkthrough of the facility and surrounding areas each day.

  • Assist the Event Services Coordinator in the running all of the stadium operations, including, security, program sales, concourse entertainment, maintenance and in-park staff

  • Assist in leading the part-time staff in terms of customer service and in the day to day operations
  • Assist in the reconciliation of monies from other areas of the operation including parking, programs and concourse entertainment
