The Arizona Diamondbacks Legal Department is seeking qualified candidates to participate in our 2010 Spring Semester  Internship Program.

Time Frame:
January – April, 2010
Interviews will be conducted throughout the month of December 2009

Responsiblities:
• Conduct legal research and prepare memorandums summarizing such research
• Assist with filing and other document management tasks
• Assist with the review and drafting of corporate sponsorship, licensing, and other agreements
• Assist with special projects upon request
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in second or third year (or equivalent) of law school
• Available to work in the Legal Department’s offices at Chase Field for a minimum of ten (10) hours per week during normal business hours

• Familiarity with the Arizona Diamondbacks and/or the sports industry, a plus

Baseball Operations Internship - Florida Marlins L.P. (Miami, FL)

The Baseball Operations Intern assists in the day-to-day functions of the Baseball Operations Department, with specific emphasis on player development. Intern will be on site for minor league spring training and then will remain in Jupiter, FL at our spring training facility to oversee the day-to-day functions of our Extended Spring and Gulf Coast Marlins operations. Excellent oral and written skills in English and Spanish are REQUIRED. This individual must have understanding of the game of baseball and have the ability to comprehend and conform to various baseball-mandated rules and regulations. Proficiency w/ computer programs including but not limited to Word, Excel, email, MLB EBIS, and PowerPoint a must. Communication, time-management, multi-tasking skills and strong work ethic are required.

The compensation includes hotel accommodations at minor league team hotel throughout the course of the internship. Breakfast and lunch will be available at minor league complex and cell phone reimbursement of $50 per month during regular season.

*** Ballpark Entertainment/Production*** The Ballpark Entertainment Intern will be responsible for recording, tape logging, and dubbing highlight clips from Astros games. The selected individual will also be responsible for supporting both the community development and conference center departments through its various events and player appearances. This includes operating video cameras, editing, and other production responsibilities. Other duties include creating graphics such as headshots. The internship is more suited for an individual who possesses experience in computer based programs, such as Avid, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop. The intern candidate should want to pursue a career in sports production. The intern candidate must be able to work all games (which may include day, night, weekend and holiday games). This intern will assume additional roles on an as needed basis. A media production major is recommended for this internship.

*** Graphics *** This intern will work closely with Marketing and other departments in creating a wide range of print graphics including but not limited to: ballpark signage, promotional items, brochures, posters, flyers, postcards, and invitations. In addition, they will help create print ads and interact with various print publications uploading to their FTP sites and performing other functions on an as needed basis. Candidates must have an extensive working knowledge of Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop on a MAC operating system. The selected individual must be able to handle multiple projects under flexible and extreme deadlines. A strong understanding of the printing process and web design is a plus.

*** Market Development *** The Market Development department’s primary goal is the development of niche marketing programs targeted at continuously expanding the ball club’s fan base. The department works in such areas as Spanish-language marketing and community programs, special niche and general market sponsored events, team website content development, as well as Spanish television and radio broadcast. Please visit our Spanish website at www.astrosdehouston.com for more information. The Market Development intern will assist in keeping track of all Astros international media efforts, including print publications, radio and TV broadcast spots and the Spanish website, developing programs to increase traffic to the Spanish website, and serving as a liaison with sponsors via email and phone and may sometimes include in-person meetings. This intern will also assist in editing and publishing articles for the team’s Spanish publication, “Cronicas de los Astros" with the supervision of the Spanish radio broadcast. Other responsibilities include translating all game recaps into Spanish in a timely manner for dissemination among the Astros extensive international media database. The intern is also responsible for keeping an up-to-date clippings file to keep track of the Astros international media coverage. At times, the selected intern will interview players in Spanish as well as translate press releases into Spanish. Other duties include organizing bi-lingual baseball clinics and other Spanish community initiatives by coordinating and logistically planning the events with the players. The intern will assume additional roles on an as needed basis. MUST BE fluent in both Spanish and English (writing, speaking, and translating) and have extensive copywriting knowledge. Majors for this intern may include Marketing, Sports Management, and Spanish.

*** Risk Management/Security *** The Risk Management/Security Intern will provide basic clerical assistance such as filing, preparing monthly in-house vendor First Aid reporting for billing purposes, data entry, monthly statistical reports, and update and maintain in-house medical worker comp payments. This intern will also aid in litigation research in preparation for responses to interrogatories, maintain certificate of insurance system, assist re-pricing medical bills, various research projects, building walk-through inspections, and worker comp Q & A with TPA regarding research information. The selected individual will generate certificate of insurance letters to vendors, contractors, and subcontractors regarding renewal certificates and assist with Security and Risk Management project with database/incident/statistical reporting. Gameday duties will apply to this internship in the area of Security administration. This intern will assume additional roles on an as needed basis.

We are looking for someone with knowledge of the Kissimmee/Orlando area, who has aspirations to go into a sales/marketing position after college.

This position requires that the applicants receive college credit. This position will work extensively with contracts and proposals for sponsorship accounts. This includes making ledgers from existing contracts and composing new business proposals to sell sponsorships/billboards throughout the park.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The College Ambassador Program is aimed at students currently enrolled in a university in the state of Wisconsin, preferably UW-Milwaukee, UW-Madison or Marquette University. The goal of this program is to find dedicated staff to participate in community, campus and ballpark events as Ambassadors of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club. Qualified individuals should be comfortable speaking in front of a large audience, have superior people skills and be involved in student life at his or her university.

If you are going to be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior in the 2010-2011 academic year, and you have a passion for sports, include a resume and cover letter expressing why you would be perfect for this position. In your application, please describe any background you have in marketing, advertising, fan support and/or promotions through work or school engagements.

The most successful students in the program will be chosen to take on additional intern responsibilities in the Consumer Marketing Department of the Brewers Front Office during the summer months. The College Ambassador Marketing & Promotions Internship runs from March through the end of the 2010 Brewers season, with required weekly meetings held at Miller Park and the unique chance to be a part of Milwaukee-area events and festivals throughout the baseball season.

Qualifications/Education Required
Candidates must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in the state of Wisconsin and must be able to earn credit for their work. Applicants must also have a flexible schedule, with availability to work approximately 20 hours per week, with more hours possible to assist with in-game promotions throughout the season.

This position is responsible for assisting with overall care of the grounds in and around Miller Park and the youth baseball facility. The internship is a paid hourly position which may begin as early as March and extend into November.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complete assignments on a daily basis including mowing, edging, weeding, sod work, infield maintenance, mound repair, and landscape maintenance.
• Assist with game responsibilities including set-up, field security and distribution of promotional items.
• Assist in managing the field at our youth sports facility during a one-month rotation.
• Safely operate various grounds equipment such as mowers, carts, etc.

Qualifications/Education Required:
• Candidates must be able to perform physical tasks, with or without accommodation such as lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, sprinting and pulling tarp;
• Prior grounds maintenance experience is not required;
• Candidates must have a valid drivers license;
• Candidates must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a turf management program or related college program at an accredited college or university.

Public Relations Seasonal Intern - Oakland Athletics (Oakland, CA)

The Oakland Athletics are seeking a qualified candidate to work as a seasonal intern in the public relations office during the 2010 season. The intern, who will receive a $1,000 stipend, is expected to work between 25-40 hours a week when the team is at home. Minor League Strength & Conditioning Internships - Oakland Athletics (Varies, AZ)

The Oakland Athletics minor league system has five (5) seasonal Strength and Conditioning internship positions available. Of the five open internships there are available, four (4) full season positions located will be located in Sacramento, CA; Midland, TX; Geneva, IL; and Stockton, CA and will begin on or around April 5, 2010, and one (1) short-season position located in Vancouver, BC that will begin on or around June 10, 2010.   All positions will finish up on or around September 10th, 2010.
 

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Supervising, assisting with, and recording structured strength and conditioning programs in a variety of environments.
• Assisting Athletic Trainer with various duties, most importantly the rehabilitation of injured athletes who are with the club.
• Effectively leading proper warm-up and stretching activities on a daily basis.
• Assist the coaching staff with video/ filming of players during games as needed
• The position will report directly to the Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coordinator as well as the Director of Strength & Conditioning.
 

Requirements:

Sports Medicine.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Assist with daily video production duties with the Video Coordinator and RaysVision team
• Work in conjunction with RaysVision staff to execute game-day audio/visual presentation
• Perform as videographer and production assistant for on-location shoots for commercials, promos, and player related content
• Conceptualize new ideas for RaysVision content
