Job Title:Bat Boy

Reports To:Senior Director, Clubhouse Operations

FLSA:Hourly-Non Exempt              

Job Purpose:To assist Clubhouse Operations staff with pre-game preparation, serve the function of bat boy during home games, and perform assorted duties postgame.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up dugout and bullpen before each game.
  • Run baseballs to the umpire during the game
  • Collect bats in between batters.
  • Collect balls during batting practice
  • Help around the clubhouse when requested

Experience, Education and Licensure:

  • Must be a minimum age of 16 as of Opening Day 2017. Candidates under the age of 18 must provide a valid work permit before employment may begin.
  • Must present self in a professional manner to interact with fans of all ages, sponsors, and game day guests

Requirements:

  • Be available to work all game times
  • Be able to work the entirety of any game no matter the length
  • Help load and unload equipment truck for departures and arrivals

Work Environment:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment however employee may have “game-day” responsibilities where the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • Hours may include nights, weekends and holidays.

 Expectations:

  • Adhere to Cincinnati Reds Organization Policies and Procedures
  • Act as a role model within and outside the Cincinnati Reds Organization
  • Performs duties as workload necessitates

IT Business Analytics and Reporting Internship - Kansas City Royals (Kansas City, MO)

SUMMARY

Develops, delivers and supports data analysis solutions to all business departments based on defined requirements.  This position will work directly with the Manager of Systems Analysis and the Senior Director of Information Systems.  The ideal candidate is a focused, detail oriented and analytical creative problem solver with strong customer service skills.  The opportunity provides an excellent learning opportunity for a candidate studying or working towards a career in database administration, data visualization or information sciences.  This internship will run from approximately May 15, 2017 to August 15, 2017.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop SQL scripts, database tables and/or views in a SQL server environment

  • Develop reporting and analysis with appropriate available tools, including Excel, SQL Server Reporting Services and PowerBI

  • Evaluate initial analysis results for accuracy and relevancy, suggesting improvements where necessary

  • Review work products with business owners and adjust based on feedback as needed

  • Provide assistance with IT projects outside of direct area of responsibility as needed, including helping support pre-game stadium technology preparations

  • Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Working towards a degree or career in database architecture, data analysis or information science

  • Familiarity and experience with SQL server

  • Excellent general computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment

  • Familiarity with Office365, experience with PowerBI is a plus

  • Ability to communicate effectively and build effective working relationships with a diverse customer base

TrackMan Operator Intern - Kansas City Royals -- Omaha Storm Chasers (Papillion, NE)

Job Summary: Operator will be responsible for running Trackman system at the Kansas City Royals' affiliate (Omaha Storm Chasers) during each home game

RESPONSIBILITES: 
• Responsible for setting up rosters and telling the story of what happened on evey single pitch.
Track/chart information for the entire game – monitoring the system and making any changes throughout the game (i.e. roster changes, defensive substitutions, etc.)
• Responsible for fixing any errors, uploading the game to the Trackman system, and running data and reports for coaches/front office staff

 REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to work all home games (Being withing a commuting distance is preferred) 
• Previous experience with Trackman System is preferred but not required
• Must have strong attention to detail, ability

Bilingual Intern, Media Relations - New York Yankees (Bronx, NY)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Compile and distribute news clippings pertaining to the Yankees, Yankee Stadium and baseball from all of New York metropolitan area newspapers, magazines and websites
  • Maintain organize and complete files of all news clippings, briefs and stories involving all New York Yankees players, coaches and front office matters

Minor League Assistant Athletic Trainer Intern - Oakland Athletics, Minor League (Mesa, AZ)

The Oakland Athletics Minor League system has one (1) seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainer internship position available.  The available position will be located in Mesa, AZ working alongside both the Rehab Coordinator the Certified Athletic Trainers for Extended Spring Training and the Arizona Summer League team.  This position will begin on or around April 15, 2017 and end on or around August 31, 2017.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assisting the Certified Athletic Trainer with evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries
• Recordkeeping using the electronic medical records system

TrackMan Analytics/Operations Internship - TrackMan Baseball (Stamford, CT)

Description:
Join TrackMan’s team as an Analytics/Operations Intern for TrackMan Baseball, a US-based sports technology firm. You will take on a critical role in a small, fast-moving entrepreneurial company that is breaking new ground in sports.

In this position, your responsibility will be to review TrackMan data from a significant number of Major, Minor, NCAA, and international stadiums, as well as numerous amateur tournaments. You will also have the opportunity to perform statistical analysis as directed.

We are hiring on a rolling basis, and the internship wraps up at the conclusion of the Major League baseball season, with the opportunity to stay on for further projects. Candidates with only summer availability will also be considered for a shorter-term internship.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to break into the baseball community and get experience with data available exclusively to professional baseball teams.  Detailed training is provided, along with the opportunity to work closely with members of the TrackMan staff and interface with our partner teams.  Weekend and evening availability is important.

2017 Internship, New Media Production - Washington Nationals (Washington, DC)

Summary:

New Media Interns will work with the New Media Manager to learn new skills and receive valuable insight into the day-to-day workings of a sports new media department. S/he will also gain hands-on experience working game days, creating social media, organizing website and email plans, editing content and working in a fast paced environment.

The Nationals are a military-friendly organization actively recruiting veterans and spouses.

  • Under guidance of New Media Manager, lay out social media schedule and create social media content.

2017 Internship, Ticket Operations - Washington Nationals (Washington, DC)

Summary:

The Intern will provide continuous coverage of service and support in all four box office locations and for preparation to begin and close each area on a daily basis.  Interns should assist the Ticket Operations Department in providing a wider more intensive service net for our external and internal customers.

The Intern will work closely with the Ticket Operations staff in the selling, printing, and mailing of group tickets, season tickets, and single game ticket requests.  The Intern will assist in the processing of internal CRM departmental requests and will be instrumental in the fulfillment of Nationals season ticket holder initiatives such as the Nationals Ticket Exchange Program.  Candidates should possess superior customer service skills and must work well in a fast paced environment. 

The Intern will be provided the opportunity to experience the daily and gameday functions of a MLB ticket operations department. Candidates must have prior customer service experience as well as be experienced with internet and web based browsers/searches, MS Office applications such as Excel, Word & Powerpoint, and have superior writing/reading comprehension.  Prior experience in the handling and reconciliation of cash is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the processing, printing and distribution of season, group and individual game tickets and cards

  • Process ticket exchanges in accordance with the Nationals Season Ticket Holder Exchange policy

  • Service and interact with customers on a regular basis to help resolve ticketing questions and concerns    

  • Support in supervision of seasonal ticket seller staff

  • Assist in the generation of reports based on promotions, sales, inventory, etc.

  • Utilize automated ticketing system, Tickets.com ProVenue, to process all internal & external ticket requests

  • Assist in tracking and reporting discounts and total ticket numbers

  • Update policies and procedures manual and assist in special projects

  • Provide customer service support on gamedays in the Ticket Services lobby

  • Assist with administrative tasks for the department, i.e. CRM, data entry, updating spreadsheets, filling, faxing, general office work

  • Aid in the gameday preparation of the box offices including, outfitting supplies, stanchion setup, signage placement, etc.

Requirements:

Summary:

The Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy is a non-profit organization with the mission of using baseball and softball as vehicles to foster positive character development, academic achievement and improved health among Washington, D.C. youth living in underserved communities. The Academy is currently seeking a hard-working and self-motivated individual to assist with its health and nutrition program.  While answering to the Senior Manager, Family and Community Engagement Programs, this internship requires the ability to work with several staff members on varying tasks.  Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, directly supporting Senior Manager, Family and Community Engagement Programs and other Academy staff in creating, implementing, and delivering health, nutrition, and wellness for adult and youth programs.  In addition, this position will encourage the practice of healthy eating and nutrition education of the Academy’s community through the coordination of healthy cooking demonstrations, nutrition classes, staff trainings and healthy bulletins, and newsletters. Interns can expect to gain valuable experience in the public health education and programming, working with members of all ages and backgrounds. A strong background in food and nutrition is preferred. This position also includes marketing and related community outreach.  Internship is unpaid.

Duration: April through August

Tasks and Duties:

  • Coordination with Academy’s health and wellness program partners
  • Assist in the implementation of Academy’s health and wellness program
  • Support Academy staff in relation to the Academy’s health and wellness program
  • Help with setup/breakdown of Academy health and wellness program events
