Summary of Responsibilities:

The purpose of this position is to assist the Visiting Clubhouse Manager with on-field and off-field duties including set up of player equipment, restocking coolers, and laundry.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Assist players with on-field/off-field equipment needs: set up equipment in appropriate slots, pick up/replace equipment after hitting.
  • Prep bench for games, includes stocking coolers, gum, sunflower seeds, etc.; Maintain coolers and bench during games.
  • Launder towels, uniforms, and clothing as needed for the Clubhouse.
  • Assist in packing/unpacking team equipment and baggage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Current High School student (at least 16 y.o.) with GPA 3.0 or higher; College student with GPA 3.0 or higher preferred
  • 1 year experience playing baseball, team manager or general support of the team
  • Knowledge of the game of baseball
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment
  • Ability to lift and /or carry at least 25lbs consistently

Job Title:                  Communications Game Day Associate

Job Classification:  Non-Exempt

Summary of Responsibilities:

Game Day Associate (formerly known as a Runner) assists with media credentialing, Press Box operations, media information distribution, and escorting Clubhouse & Executive office VIP guests on field visits.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Operate the press will call window, manage distribution of credentials to media for a 5 hour time period that commences 4 hours prior to 1st pitch
  • Handle postgame press attendant duties of turning the sound system to postgame interview audio, closing pressbox windows, copying & distributing postgame stats & notes, faxing official score sheets etc.
  • Serve as a pressbox attendant responsible for copying, running information to specific areas (field, dining room, clubhouses, ticket office); ensures equipment is operational
  • Escort VIP field visit guests – serve as a chaperone
  • Assist with delivering newspapers, incident reports and handle other designated tasks such as keying information into databases as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma, or equivalent; current college student or recent graduate with B.A. in communication, journalism, public relations, sports management or related field preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent collaboration, customer service and people skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational & time management skills

Communications: Writer/Editorial
Freelance Multimedia Video Communications Specialist - St. Louis Cardinals (St. Louis, MO)

Summary of Responsibilities:

This position will serve as a part-time multimedia brand journalist responsible for the production of the daily production of Video News Segments, other related feature videos and digital content for the teams website, as well as writing stories and reporting news about the team as part of the Cardinal’s expanding brand journalism efforts.    

 

Essential Functions of the Job:

 

  • Collaborate with each department to develop 3 stories a week to promote fan awareness of team initiatives
  • Responsible for researching, writing, interviewing story subjects, capture visual content by shooting video, voiceovers and standups, and edit stories for multiple platforms

  • Gather and verify factual information regarding stories through interview, observation, and research

  • Organize material, determining story emphasis, and writing blog posts to accompany video according to prescribed editorial style

  • Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories written for website and other social platforms; edit videos for all multimedia and social platforms

  • Appear on video when conducting taped interviews or providing narration as needed

  • Work cooperatively with videographer as needed

  • Upload video to the team’s website with detailed metadata attached, write and schedule the accompanying blog post, handle social media posts to drive traffic to the story

  • Maintain an excel spreadsheet production schedule to keep track of assignments and integrate analytics reporting to track the video views and other metrics on each production

  • Upload each video to H5, the team’s central digital archive, and use detailed metadata to ensure proper preservation for future use

  • Develop and produce a regular podcast or podcast series

  • Work collaboratively with the Communications department staff to handle social media duties as well as a variety of communication related projects to support the organization.

Education and Experience Required:

 

  • Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Multimedia Journalism, or other discipline that emphasize visual storytelling and multimedia production
  • 2-3 years experience as a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) in television or related news/sports outlet

  • Creative, self-starter, can work well unsupervised and can produce great results on deadline driven video projects

  • Proficient in using professional grade HD video equipment, at least 2 years experience using Avid or Adobe Premiere video editing systems

  • Basic experience with Adobe AfterEffects, MediaEncoder, and Audition

  • Excellent writing (AP Style) and verbal communication skills.  Must be comfortable in front of a camera

  • Must possess an excellent understanding of media, sports, and baseball

  • Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.  Ability to travel outside of the US.

  • Excellent collaboration, customer service, and people skills

Education and Experience Preferred (in addition to the above):

  • 3-4 years experience as a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) in television or related news/sports outlet

  • A background in radio and television sports reporting

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills

  • Ability to learn quickly and demonstrated track record of working on deadlines to produce videos

  • Ability to interact productively and positively with fellow employees in a team environment

  • Assertive, capable of following leads and interviewing individuals for stories

  • 2-3 years experience posting to social media and posting to online blogs (Wordpress) and other digital platforms

  • 3-4 years of direct experience with Avid editing system or other equivalent non-linear editing systems

  • 2-3 years of direct experience with Adobe AfterEffects and MediaEncoder

  • Demonstrated ability to produce more than one video news story in a single work day
