Benefits Coordinator - St. Louis Cardinals (St. Louis, MO)

Summary of Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for administering employee benefits programs including the Wellness Program, employee tickets, retirement plans, medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, and life insurance under the supervision of the HR Supervisor.  Benefits Coordinator will work closely with the HR Supervisor to communicate the benefits options offered to employees.  This position is also responsible for ensuring all new hires are enrolled into programs in a timely manner and recommending a communication plan for open enrollment.  They are accountable for correct employee data in all vendor, Club, and MLB databases and reports.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Administer all day to day transactions of Club benefits plans
  • Enter all new employee data into HRIS and benefit vendor databases
  • Enter all employee benefit transactional additions, changes, and terminations of employees into Club, Vendor, and MLB databases
  • Ensure timely filing of all benefit changes and supporting documentation into employee files
  • Communicate medical insurance options and trouble shoot benefit issues for Front Office and Minor League Players
  • Field benefit plan questions and concerns from Front Office, Field Staff, and Minor League players
  • Administer the Retirement Plans (Major League Baseball Pension Plan and 401k Plan)
  • Compile monthly employee benefits invoices
  • Assist in the processing of new hires and employee changes
  • Ensure timely distribution of required annual notices (SARS, Medicate, ACA)
  • Administer the Front Office and Minor League affiliate FMLA/Disability program
  • Monitor Front Office leave balances via timekeeping system and leave trackers, collect trackers at EOY for exempt staff
  • Administer COBRA requirements
  • Administer employee perks distribution

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s in Human Resource Management or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in HR office as generalist or coordinator
  • 3-5 years of experience administering benefits
  • Familiarity with Minor League employee benefit features
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) preferred
  • Proficient in Spanish (in both speaking and written)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel proficient
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Can handle multiple tasks and prioritize on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • Ability to explain employee benefits to all levels of employees
  • Strong understanding of regulations relating to benefits
  • Knowledgeable in administering human resources benefit programs and systems
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement into Club HR processes; work with payroll and vendors to execute process improvements
  • Excellent time management
  • Excellent communication skills is a must 

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s in Human Resource management or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in HR office as generalist or coordinator
  • 2+ years of experience administering benefits
  • 2+ years of experience with HRIS regarding benefits, preferably Ultimate Software
  • Detail orientated, problem solver, analytical approach to data organization
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel proficient
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritizing
  • Knowledgeable of HRIS, Ultimate Software preferred
  • Knowledge of regulations relating to benefit plans
  • Ability to understand internal processes as they relate to new hires, benefit plans and administering human resources programs and systems
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation)
  • Provide professional relationship with benefit brokers

Summary of Responsibilities:

The sous chef will assist the team chef in all manners of preparing food for the team, staff and support personnel – from designing menus to chopping vegetables to managing inventory. Together, the team chef and sous chef exists to provide better food and nutrition for the players and staff so they can perform on high level day in and day out.

Summary of Responsibilities:

This position will generate and develop superior, award-worthy features of any length.  They will be the lead content producer covering all facets of the team for Cardinals Gameday Magazine, the annual Cardinals Yearbook, and the online presence of those publications.  They must be a prolific producer who manages overlapping deadlines in an environment characterized by high volume, high performance, and high standards.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Write three to four full-length feature stories and departmental features for each monthly issue of Cardinals Magazine
  • Write the majority of content for the annual Cardinals Yearbook
  • Provide strategized daily/weekly coverage of the team through the department’s new online and digital initiatives
  • Build a network of relationships across the entire organization in order to effectively and fully develop the sum and substance of feature story possibilities
