Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Reports To: Human Resources Director
FLSA: Exempt
 

Job Purpose: Support and maximize use of human resources. Maintain functions such as recruitment, personnel policies, and regulatory compliance. Administer various human resources programs and procedures including seasonal hiring, training, and records maintenance. Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Analyze human resources data and carry out responsibilities in one or more functional areas, such as: staffing, employee relations, compensation, training, employment, labor relations, safety, affirmative action and employee equity programs, and personnel research.

Identify vacancies and develop recruiting strategies for open positions, spearheading seasonal hiring, including compiling all seasonal HR and payroll forms and assisting in annual pre-season training.

Conduct and manage background screens and motor vehicle reports, including annual criminal screens for all seasonal employees prior to the start of the season and annual motor vehicle reports for any employee covered by the organization’s auto liability policy. Inform Director of HR of any discrepancies, issues, or policy non-compliance that could result in termination.

Facilitate internship program by working with managers to identify and interview candidates, providing orientation, training as needed, and conducting exit interviews. Act as a role model and mentor to interns.

Facilitate front office staff new hire orientations.

Conduct staff exit interviews, analyze data, and make recommendations to management for continuous improvement.

Investigate work-related accidents and incidents, including preparing reports and conducting interviews.

Maintain worker’s compensation files and communication with worker’s compensation TPA.

Assist with benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, and communication.

Respond to employee relations issues as needed. Analyze and provide advice to supervisors and managers on methods and approaches to resolve employee work problems.

Support management in investigating and resolving grievances among employees, supervisors, management, and/or union personnel.

Advise employee and management personnel on the interpretation of personnel policies, programs, and procedures. Ensure that programs are carried out in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.

May develop and propose improvement to policies, programs, and procedures to improve the effectiveness of human resources and operations.

 

Carry out administrative work involving the human resources functions and maintain related records, including filing.

Maintain compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.

Provide other human resources services as needed.
 

Experience, Education, Licensure
 

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or equivalent, and five to seven years experience in Human Resources field.
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must have ability to work without supervision and make appropriate decisions, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and process work with accuracy. Work requires an extensive knowledge of business and an excellent command of the English language. Must have knowledge of office administrative procedures and ability to use standard office equipment at a level generally acquired through related experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access. Must be capable of mastering Paycor HR Performer software and reports. Must have a high level of interpersonal skill and able to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy. Analytical ability is required to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative issues, and prioritize work. Work requires continued attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, data entry, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
