2017 Internship, New Media Production - Washington Nationals (Washington, DC)

Summary:

New Media Interns will work with the New Media Manager to learn new skills and receive valuable insight into the day-to-day workings of a sports new media department. S/he will also gain hands-on experience working game days, creating social media, organizing website and email plans, editing content and working in a fast paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under guidance of New Media Manager, lay out social media schedule and create social media content.

  • Take pictures and use Photoshop to edit pictures and prepare them for posting.

  • Pull data from the Nationals digital outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, emails, etc.).

  • Assist with written and visual content across Nationals.com and related digital outlets.

  • Track social media trends to guide future posts.

  • Work with the entire Marketing Department as needed during events and promotions.

Requirements:
 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student of an accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of 1 semester or have graduated from an accredited college or university within the last 6 months.

  • Preferred areas of study include: Digital Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Journalism, Film or Creative Design.

2017 Internship, Ticket Operations - Washington Nationals (Washington, DC)

Summary:

The Intern will provide continuous coverage of service and support in all four box office locations and for preparation to begin and close each area on a daily basis.  Interns should assist the Ticket Operations Department in providing a wider more intensive service net for our external and internal customers.

The Intern will work closely with the Ticket Operations staff in the selling, printing, and mailing of group tickets, season tickets, and single game ticket requests.  The Intern will assist in the processing of internal CRM departmental requests and will be instrumental in the fulfillment of Nationals season ticket holder initiatives such as the Nationals Ticket Exchange Program.  Candidates should possess superior customer service skills and must work well in a fast paced environment. 

The Intern will be provided the opportunity to experience the daily and gameday functions of a MLB ticket operations department. Candidates must have prior customer service experience as well as be experienced with internet and web based browsers/searches, MS Office applications such as Excel, Word & Powerpoint, and have superior writing/reading comprehension.  Prior experience in the handling and reconciliation of cash is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the processing, printing and distribution of season, group and individual game tickets and cards

  • Process ticket exchanges in accordance with the Nationals Season Ticket Holder Exchange policy

  • Support in supervision of seasonal ticket seller staff

Requirements:

Summary

The Ticket Seller position is a seasonal position beginning in February and ending in early October.  The Ticket Seller is responsible for maximizing individual ticket sales and revenue using the ticketing software, in addition to delivering exceptional customer service at the ticket windows.  As a first point-of-contact for Nationals Park, it is critical that individuals are energetic and engaging and display a strong sales and service focus during all interactions.  The representative is responsible for processing single game and future event ticket sales, along with processing and distributing Will Call tickets to visiting patrons.  This position is also responsible for handling general customer service inquiries regarding policies, ballpark events, promotions and pricing.

Summary

The Box Office Ticket Seller Supervisor directly assists the Manager, Box Office by supervising, leading and motivating the front line window staff on game and non-game days.  This position is one of the first points of contact for ticket window staff, assisting with all customer service related items such as questions, ticketing issues, purchases and policies.  On non-game days, this position works a window on a rotation schedule handling advanced ticket sales for Nationals Park events. Broadcast: Broadcast Production
Motion Graphic Designer and Editor - Washington Nationals Baseball Club, LLC (Washington, DC)

Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Production & Operations, the Motion Graphic Designer and Editor is responsible for producing and distributing audio/visual content in a wide array of mediums for the Scoreboard Production Department.  This position creates audio/visual content including in-park content, commercials, PSAs, rich media, social media, promotions, etc.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce, edit and deliver creative audio/visual content for game day and non-game day projects including but not limited to pump videos, interviews, highlights, commercials, etc.
  • Produce, edit and deliver creative broadcast quality audio/visual content through TV and Radio Broadcast Affiliates, nationals.com, MLBAM, MLB Network and all other Nationals broadcasting, web and rich media as well as video duplications in multiple formats.
  • Produce, edit and deliver long and short form audio/visual projects.
  • Produce field and studio shoots.
  • Produce, edit and deliver audio/visual content to internal departments.
  • Assist with the development of new and innovative fan entertainment concepts.
  • Ensure Nationals branding is implemented in all audio/visual productions.
  • Operate game day production equipment as needed.
  • Travel to Spring Training for up to 2 weeks to obtain seasonal content.
  • Assist the Director, Production & Operations in any projects outside of essential duties as needed.

Requirements:

Special Police Officer - Washington Nationals (Washington, DC)

Summary 
 
Reporting to the Manager of Security, the Special Police Officer, licensed with the Security Officer Management Branch, provides a safe and pleasant environment for all visitors, guests and employees to the property. Special Police Officer performs protective and enforcement functions when coping with undesired behavior, disturbance, crime, threats of life and property. This is a full-time, year round position and is designated as an “essential employee.” As such, the Special Police Officer may be required to stay beyond regular work hours and/or report in from off-duty to assist with minimum staffing coverage.

•Advise the Supervisor, On-Duty-Manager of all activities that would be of interest, importance or concern regarding the property or any activity at the Stadium.
•Complete all duties as otherwise assigned in a timely and professional manner.

Summary:

The After-School Academy Baseball/Softball Coordinator is responsible for using baseball and softball as vehicles for instilling traits of leadership, character development and teamwork for our scholar-athletes. The After-School Academy Baseball/Softball Coordinator will be responsible for effectively planning and implementing daily logistics, taking the lead role in mentoring time (e.g. explaining the lesson to mentors and scholar-athletes at the start of mentoring time), be the lead facilitator during all on-field baseball/softball activities, develop thorough and creative baseball/softball plans, other physical activities related to baseball/softball, Team Time, and other activities, as requested. The After-School Academy Baseball/Softball Coordinator will oversee and manage college/high school-aged volunteer coaches, meal time, and provide necessary support during all enrichment activities (e.g. mentoring, electives, etc.) associated with the Academy’s after-school program. The After-School Academy Baseball/Softball Coordinator should be well-versed in youth development and able to mentor volunteer coaches. Lastly, the After-School Academy Baseball/Softball Coordinator must have the ability to manage behavioral challenges posed by scholar-athletes by using Advancing Youth Development and Responsive Classrooms practices.

The After-School Academy Baseball/Softball Coordinator is expected to be at the Academy for after-school programming during the hours of 2:30pm to 7:30pm and will attend all academy field-trips, as requested. The After-School Academy Baseball/Softball Coordinator will also be expected to attend mandatory training and professional development programs provided by the Academy.

The Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy is a non-profit organization with the mission of using baseball and softball as vehicles to foster positive character development, academic achievement and improved health among Washington, D.C. youth living in underserved communities. The Academy is currently seeking a hard-working and self-motivated individual to assist with its health and nutrition program.  While answering to the Senior Manager, Family and Community Engagement Programs, this internship requires the ability to work with several staff members on varying tasks.  Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, directly supporting Senior Manager, Family and Community Engagement Programs and other Academy staff in creating, implementing, and delivering health, nutrition, and wellness for adult and youth programs.  In addition, this position will encourage the practice of healthy eating and nutrition education of the Academy’s community through the coordination of healthy cooking demonstrations, nutrition classes, staff trainings and healthy bulletins, and newsletters. Interns can expect to gain valuable experience in the public health education and programming, working with members of all ages and backgrounds. A strong background in food and nutrition is preferred. This position also includes marketing and related community outreach.  Internship is unpaid.

Duration: April through August

The Academy Program Coordinator is responsible for managing volunteer recruitment orientation, and enrollment process, as well as supporting Academy programs, staff, and activities as it relates to volunteers and mentors. The Academy Program Coordinator is responsible for volunteer placement, managing documentation, and volunteer placement.
