Junior Network Administrator - Oakland Athletics (Oakland, CA)

Junior Network Administrator

Description:

The Oakland Athletics are currently seeking a Full-Time Junior Network Administrator. This position will report directly to the Information Technology Manager. The Junior Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining our current systems and keeping our IT support staff updated on the latest tools and processes. The Junior Network Administrator will also be considered second-tier Help Desk support. Experience preferred for this position includes Cisco, Brocade and Juniper networking equipment, and well-versed in Windows-based computing solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with departmental managers to determine future network needs and plan for network changes
• Develop methods and tools to be used to test and implement new LAN/WAN equipment
• Create projects that are designed to either add functionality required by the company or to
address ongoing network performance tuning issues
• Provide second-tier helpdesk support to users both locally and remote
• Engage in regular network troubleshooting activities and resolve network connectivity issues
• Analyze the current network structure and submit quarterly comprehensive reports to executive team on how to make the network more efficient
• Document IT Department systems and procedures
• Provide end user support thru remote client software, telephone, email and in-person assistance
• Support and configure wireless technologies based on 802.11x signals – stand alone and controller based (Cisco, Ruckus and Aruba)
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred or minimum of 4 years experience in Network Administration or two (2) years of IT Service Desk experience with networking certifications in the pipeline
• Working hands-on knowledge of Cisco ASA/Catalyst, Palo Alto Networks and Brocade switching
• Must be able to complete complex projects with minimal to no supervision
• Proven experience managing a large and complex network
• Effective problem-solving skills
• Strong safety record and a history of establishing safe work practices
• Experience at the enterprise networking level, and can also work well with legacy systems preferred
• Available to work non-traditional business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
• Must be willing to travel
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
