Landscape Intern - Spring 2010 - Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club (Milwaukee, WI)

Department: Grounds
Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting with overall care of the grounds in and around Miller Park and the youth baseball facility. The internship is a paid hourly position which may begin as early as March and extend into November.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complete assignments on a daily basis including mowing, edging, weeding, pruning, and fertilizer and pesticide applications.
• Assist in maintaining wildflower beds, planting annual beds, independent design of new plantings.
• Assist in pest identification and management.
• Assist in renovation projects.
• Assist in controlling and monitoring the irrigation system.
• Assist in supervising the work groups.
• Safely operate various grounds equipment such as mowers, carts, etc.
Qualifications/Education Required:
• Candidates must be able to perform physical tasks, with or without accommodation such as lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders and pull tarp;
• Prior grounds maintenance experience is not required;
• Candidates must have a valid drivers license;
• Candidates must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a landscape management, horticulture, or related college program at an accredited college or university or have equivalent experience.
Other Qualifications:
Candidate must be available from May until August 2010. Candidates that are available March through October are preferred. Candidates may be required to work nights and weekends.
